Justin William’s Deer Hunt

Drew Blake hosted previous participant Justin William’s for his second ever deer hunt.  Justin attended our first deer camp in 2022 and was unable to harvest his first deer.  Since that hunt Justin’s health has taken a serious turn. Now back to the hunt.  Drew had picked up a property from a patron at the Dixie Deer Classic and had visited the property a couple weeks earlier to setup a ground blind and feed site.  The group arrived at the property around 2:30pm and settled into the bog chairs in the ground blind. Shortly after they arrived Drew started talking with Justin about where the deer will come from and around what time they will come out.  This is all information that Drew was able to obtain from cellular trail cameras from Black Gate Hunting Products.  During that talk, and while Drew was pointing to the direction that the deer would come from, Drew noticed movement within the tree line.  Not long after a doe came out into the Apple Cracker Deer Feed.  Drew and Justin had a brief discussion, very brief, before Justin quickly decided that he wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass on his first deer.  He took Drew’s CVA Optima Blackpowder rifle and placed it to his shoulder and filled the ground blind up with that classic powder smoke.  After a few seconds both looked out of the blind and saw Justin’s first deer laying on the ground.  Drew made quick work of going to get the deer and dragging it back to the blind.  After that Drew and Justin decided to wait to see if another deer would come out that night.  As night fell Drew and Justin loaded up their gear and the doe and made their way to Lunsford’s Meat Shop in Oxford, NC to get the doe processed.  Enjoy the hunt at the following YouTube link:https://youtu.be/l_N6h_XGIUU
