2024 Trophy Drum Weekend

$100/person Donation Required to Attend

The 2024 Trophy Drum Weekend will be limited to 10 fishermen/women and will feature 10 individual boats with a volunteer captain and mate.  All lodging and food will be provided courtesy of Camp Don Lee.  A donation of $100/person will be required to offset costs of the event. We will be targeting red drum in excess of 30 pounds with 40-50 pound fish common.  Fishing will occur within the Neuse River downstream of New Bern all the way to the Pamlico Sound.  All fishing activities will be conducted with state and federal regulations.  Trophy Drum are Catch and Release Only; however, any other species caught may be kept in accordance with state and federal regulations.  All Participants, Captains, and Mates must have valid NC Coastal Recreational Fishing license.  An annual license may be purchased for $16 or and 10 day license may be purchased for $6.  These licenses can be purchased here https://gooutdoorsnorthcarolina.com/

Terms and Conditions Highlights

  1. Accommodations can be made for those traveling from out of state. GEO will make every attempt to pick you up from the airport nearest the event location as long as coordination has occurred prior to the event. Please let us know if airport pick up is needed in your sign up form.
  2. Attendees are responsible for all travel cost incurred for the event.  GEO does not provide travel compensation.
  3. In state attendees must find transportation to the event themselves.  Transportation can be provided for those along travel routes of GEO volunteers as long as coordination prior to the event occurs.  Please let us know if transportation is needed in your sign up form.

Don Lee Center offers ideal programs for children and youth through the Common Ground school program looking for cooperation and team building skills. Coastal Communities, a school program that takes a closer look at the coastal and river ecosystems, helps nurture over 6000 students each year.

Don Lee Center also serves as a Retreat Center offering a place for groups of all sizes and backgrounds to come together and bond through fellowship during meals and activities.  We have hosted various groups ranging from families to church groups to college organizations.

Don Lee Center seeks to nurture persons to become spiritually mature who, motivated by God’s love, will live and practice lifestyles of care for the common good.

Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center is affiliated by faith with The North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church and is operated by NC United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries, Inc.
