SUMMARY:Kerr Lake Striper & Catfish Weekend
DESCRIPTION:KERR LAKE STRIPER & CATFISH WEEKEND\nThis Event was Canceled due to low participant sign up\nDates: July 12th – 14th\nLocation: County Line Campground\nAddress: 200 County Line Park Rd\, Henderson\, NC 27537\nSign Ups Close: Midnight June 1\, 2024\nFour Open Positions for Applicants Only.  Volunteers are not needed for this event.\nA minimum $35 donation will be required following selection to attend the event. \nEvent Description: \nCome join Drew Blake and Michael Fussell for a weekend of fishing on Kerr Lake/Buggs Island Reservoir.  Buggs Island consists of nearly 50\,000 acres of surface water and 800 miles of shoreline.  Join us as we target two of the lakes well known fisheries (Striped Bass and Catfish).  Buggs Island is known to have two “schools” of stripers which is based on their original stocking locations.  One school ranges from Clarksville to the Ivy Hill area and “migrates” up the Dan River.  During spring\, these stripers can be found in the upper end of the lake and in the river above Clarksville as fish travel upstream to spawn.  The second school ranges from Eastland Creek back toward the dam and “migrates” up to Nutbush Creek.   As the summer progresses the upper school migrates down the lake and joins the lower school around Eastland Creek due to a combination of high water temperatures and low dissolved oxygen which forces striped bass to be found in the lower end of the lake (the dam to about Buoy 9 and in the mouth of Nutbush Creek).  Striped bass caught during the summer suffer high mortality rates when released (approximately 75 percent). Therefore\, both NC and VA have removed the size limit restriction during the summer months (June – September) and ask that anglers halt striper fishing when they catch their legal limit of four striped bass per day rather than continue to catch fish and cull smaller fish. \nBuggs Island is also home to the World Record Blue Catfish weighing in at a whopping 143 pounds.  Catfish can be caught throughout the lake by focusing on points next to deep channels. \nStriped bass will be targeted with Drew on a  Sea Hunt BX21 bay boat using live bait and/or deep water trolling depending on conditions at the time.  Live baiting will consist of 6-8 rods rigged with modified Carolina Rigs topped off with herring or bream fishing in depths from 10-40 feet deep.  Deep Water Trolling will consist of 4 rods fished off of Cannon downriggers and two leadcore rods fishing at depths from 25-60 feet deep. Trolling will use a variety of lure combinations but the most common ones are Alabama rigs topped with bucktails and Striper Sniper Snake worms or a three way swivel with a diving lure on the bottom and a bucktail on the top. \nCatfish will be targeted with Michael on an 18′ Lund boat using Santee Cooper Rigs\, Carolina Rigs\, float rigs and/or noodles ranging from shallow points and coves (10-15 feet deep) to deep water channel ledges (30-40 feet deep) depending on conditions.  Catfishing will utilize Chum-It chum tubes to attract fish and encourage feeding.  Attendees will be rotated through both boats during the day depending on catch rates.  Night time catfishing will occur on both boats. \nOvernight camping will occur on two  adjoining waterfront campsites at County Line Campground in our 10×12 Canvas Wall Tent from The Wall Tent Shop and a Davis Canvas Tent.  Campsites are non-electric. \n\n July 2024 - Striper & Catfish Sign Up FormΔ\n July 2024 - Kerr Lake Striper & Catfish\n\n\nComplete this form to sign up for the event. \n\n\n\n First NameLast NamePhoneEmailWhat is your birthday? Please provide your Drivers License or government ID NumberPlease provide your NC Wildlife Commission License NumberPlease provide your current mailing addressAddress Line 1Address Line 2CityStateZip CodeCountrySelect CountryAfghanistanAland IslandsAlbaniaAlgeriaAmerican SamoaAndorraAngolaAnguillaAntarcticaAntigua and BarbudaArgentinaArmeniaArubaAustraliaAustriaAzerbaijanBahamasBahrainBangladeshBarbadosBelarusBelgiumBelizeBeninBermudaBhutanBoliviaBonaire\, Saint Eustatius and SabaBosnia and HerzegovinaBotswanaBouvet IslandBrazilBritish Indian Ocean TerritoryBritish Virgin IslandsBruneiBulgariaBurkina FasoBurundiCabo VerdeCambodiaCameroonCanadaCayman IslandsCentral African RepublicChadChileChinaChristmas IslandCocos (Keeling) IslandsColombiaComorosCook IslandsCosta RicaCroatiaCubaCuraçaoCyprusCzech RepublicDemocratic Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa)DenmarkDjiboutiDominicaDominican RepublicEcuadorEgyptEl SalvadorEquatorial GuineaEritreaEstoniaEswatiniEthiopiaFalkland IslandsFaroe IslandsFijiFinlandFranceFrench GuianaFrench PolynesiaFrench Southern TerritoriesGabonGambiaGeorgiaGermanyGhanaGibraltarGreeceGreenlandGrenadaGuadeloupeGuamGuatemalaGuernseyGuineaGuinea-BissauGuyanaHaitiHeard Island and McDonald IslandsHondurasHong KongHungaryIcelandIndiaIndonesiaIranIraqIrelandIsle of ManIsraelItalyIvory CoastJamaicaJapanJerseyJordanKazakhstanKenyaKiribatiKosovoKuwaitKyrgyzstanLaosLatviaLebanonLesothoLiberiaLibyaLiechtensteinLithuaniaLuxembourgMacao S.A.R.\, ChinaMadagascarMalawiMalaysiaMaldivesMaliMaltaMarshall IslandsMartiniqueMauritaniaMauritiusMayotteMexicoMicronesiaMoldovaMonacoMongoliaMontenegroMontserratMoroccoMozambiqueMyanmarNamibiaNauruNepalNetherlandsNew CaledoniaNew ZealandNicaraguaNigerNigeriaNiueNorfolk IslandNorth KoreaNorth MacedoniaNorthern Mariana IslandsNorwayOmanPakistanPalauPalestinian TerritoryPanamaPapua New GuineaParaguayPeruPhilippinesPitcairnPolandPortugalPuerto RicoQatarRepublic of the Congo (Brazzaville)RomaniaRussiaRwandaRéunionSaint BarthélemySaint HelenaSaint Kitts and NevisSaint LuciaSaint Martin (Dutch part)Saint Martin (French part)Saint Pierre and MiquelonSaint Vincent and the GrenadinesSamoaSan MarinoSao Tome and PrincipeSaudi ArabiaSenegalSerbiaSeychellesSierra LeoneSingaporeSlovakiaSloveniaSolomon IslandsSomaliaSouth AfricaSouth Georgia/Sandwich IslandsSouth KoreaSouth SudanSpainSri LankaSudanSurinameSvalbard and Jan MayenSwedenSwitzerlandSyriaTaiwanTajikistanTanzaniaThailandTimor-LesteTogoTokelauTongaTrinidad and TobagoTunisiaTurkmenistanTurks and Caicos IslandsTuvaluTürkiyeUgandaUkraineUnited Arab EmiratesUnited Kingdom (UK)United States (US)United States (US) Minor Outlying IslandsUnited States (US) Virgin IslandsUruguayUzbekistanVanuatuVaticanVenezuelaVietnamWallis and FutunaWestern SaharaYemenZambiaZimbabwePlease identify your racePlease choose your gender- Select -MaleFemalePlease choose your age group- Select -0-910-1920-2930-3940-4950-5960-6970-79Please Indicate Your Shirt SizeAdult MediumAdult LargeAdult Extra LargeAdult 2XLHave you attended a GEO event in the pastYesNoSelect Your Event Role- Select -Blind/Visually ImpairedVeteranFirst ResponderFlat Branch Club MemberVolunteerGEO StaffAre you Blind or visually impaired and wanting to fish in this event- Select -YesNoAre you a Military Veteran and wanting to fish in this event- Select -YesNoAre you a First Responder and wanting to fish in this event- Select -YesNoAre you volunteering for this event- Select -YesNoAre you a staff member of GEO- Select -YesNoBlind & Visually Impaired QuestionsThis section contains questions so that we can serve you better.
